McCain Draft?

Published by marcand at 11:43 pm under Iran, New World Order, Politics Edit This

The interesting news on the campaign trail today is the speculation of whether or not John McCain supports a return of the military draft. Pundits on the right and left side of the blogosphere are currently trying to make sense of it and argue it from both sides. Well, my objective here is simply to bring you the facts, Dragnet style ;-). So here goes …

In 2006, McCain responded to Newt Gingrich’s claim that the current war status “is in fact World War III” by saying “I do agree to some extent.” (CNN.com )

In September 2006, McCain said regarding the draft, “I might consider it, I don’t think it’s necessary, but I might consider it if you could design a draft where everybody equally could serve.”

In March 2007, McCain addresses very succinctly that he feels we do not need a draft:

Finally, today he indicated something possibly different in a town hall meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico:

So what do you think? Is this the start of a flip-flop on the draft issue? It seems that McCain might consider a draft necessary if we are indeed on the brink of World War III, or perhaps in order to sustain the war effort for another 100 years. Maybe we will just need it long enough to chase Osama bin Laden to the gates of hell and usher in the New World Order? ;-)
